How many trees have you planted in your lifetime?
If this question is asked, most of them stay blank, some may say 2 or 3 but this man would have a million replies! Hailing from Redyapalli, a small village in Khammam district of Telengana, Daripalli Ramaiah with his fifty years of persistent efforts has changed a huge portion of barren land to a gorgeous garland. Though the people around his neighborhood ridiculed him for his behavior, he doesn’t give up. For his consistent passion Indian Government awarded him Padma shri for the year 2017.
Ramaiah day begins with the journey through his bicycle with his pocket bulged with seeds, he sows the seeds in the places near the water bodies and even a small piece of barren land he sees. He widened up his knowledge on trees by reading many articles and books regarding them. The Karnataka University honored him with a doctorate for his unbound efforts and enthusiasm. He adorns himself with a green crown with slogans about growing trees. “The evolution is embodied within a small seedling… Wherein, when a seed emerges into a generous tree, the security of our mother earth is assured” says Ramaiah.
The recognition he deserves inspires many. Let the dream of Green India be achieved by involving ourselves as like Ramaiah.
